Bismillahirahmanirahim,
Self test recipe:
The fillings:
300g minced meat
5-6 red onions
3 cloves garlic
2 tbs meat curry powder
salt and seasoning for taste
Condiments (finely chopped):
Fried shallots
Red chillies
Chinese celery
The batter:
1 cup of flour
2-3 cups of coconut milk
water if needed
1 tbs of tumeric powder for coloring and aroma
Steps:
1. Cook the fillings starting with saute the onions and garlic with a little oil.
2. Add in the meat followed by the curry powder
3. A little bit of salt and beef stocks for seasoning and set aside.
Now the batter:
1. Pour in a cup of flour in a bowl and make a well in the center for the coconut milk.
2. Using a wooden spoon, mix well the coconut milk gradually. Dont forget the tumeric powder.
*the batter should be watery. I used the blender to mix it all and sieve the batter to get that smooth batter.
4. Pour about 2 tbs of the batter into each slots of the heated and oil greased loyang and quickly fill in with the fillings and the condiments
5. Cover the loyang (that special pan as in the picture) with a lid (any lid) to steam cook them. Let it cook for about 2-3 minutes.
6. Lower the fire and scoop out your kuih cara.
Its actually very easy trust me!!!! and yummy too...good luck!!!
